Why should I shred documents instead of recycling them directly?

Recycling without shredding poses significant data security risks. Shredding ensures that sensitive materials—such as financial records, employee files, and customer information—are permanently destroyed beyond reconstruction.

This safeguards your business from data breaches and helps you remain compliant with privacy legislation such as POPIA, GDPR, and HIPAA. 

How does your pricing work?

For on-site and off-site shredding solutions, our pricing is based on the number of 240-litre secure, lockable wheelie bins used per service. Each bin can hold approximately 80–100kg of paper, depending on how the documents are presented.

Pricing is influenced by the number of bins required, the customer’s location, and service type. You will be invoiced based on actual usage unless otherwise quoted in advance.

What is the size and capacity of your bins?

We use industry-standard 240-litre lockable wheelie bins—similar in size to a standard municipal refuse bin. Each bin typically holds up to 100kg of documents, but this can vary based on how the material is packed. These bins are designed for secure transport and storage prior to shredding.

Is Brand Guard legally registered to conduct shredding operations?

 Absolutely, Brand Guard’s facilities are registered with Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and all our protocols are POPIA compliant. 

Do you provide a Certificate of Destruction?

Absolutely. All our services include a digitally issued Certificate of Destruction for compliance and audit purposes. 

Do you accept card payments?

Yes, we accept card payments. Please let us know in advance if you’d prefer this method so we can ensure secure processing at the time of service. 

Do you offer ongoing or scheduled shredding services?

Absolutely. We offer recurring service options tailored to your organisation's needs, whether weekly, bi-weekly, monthly or call to service.

What should I do with leftover lever arch files, boxes, and plastics?

To reduce environmental impact, we encourage our customers to reuse boxes and files wherever possible. Landfill should always be a last resort.

If you'd prefer us to handle the recycling of these non-paper items, we’re happy to do so at an additional fee, ensuring they’re disposed of responsibly through our approved recycling partners.

Are your staff suitable to handle sensitive information.
